foobar2000 is a lightweight and feature-rich audio player.

It is by far the most configurable player around. You can make it as simpler or full-featured as you want. Supports tagging, renaming, file conversion and more.

My custom installer contains additional components like DTS and AC3 decoders, ColumnsUI component to further enhance its interface and iPod support, among others.

With it you have a music library, audio converter, mass tagger and other useful options.

Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.2

August 6th, 2010 ajua No comments

Mozilla Thunberbird is a full-featured email application that has everything you need to manage your emails and news feeds.

It supports, just like Firefox does, the installation of plugins, dictionaries and themes which makes it even better. Here is a list of its features.

The only thing missing is that the layout similar to Microsoft Outlook using three vertical panes doesn’t display well the mail information, when that layout in Outlook is awesome. Hopefully, some extension will enhance this view in the future.

You can download a portable version released by PortableApps.com.

Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8

July 20th, 2010 ajua 3 comments

Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 has been released.

Starting with version 3.6.4 Firefox now has the ability to run plug-ins like Flash, Silverlight and others in separate processes. If one of them crashes, you only need to reload the tab and not the whole browser like in previous versions.

If you want a portable version, download it at PortableApps.com.

You can learn more by reading the release notes page.

Notepad++ 5.7

July 5th, 2010 ajua No comments

Notepad++ is an open source text editor that has many useful features, like syntax highlighting, code folding, auto-completion and macro recording.

My custom installer has a customized right-click menu inside the application, as well as a few extra plugins like highlighting for PowerShell and a code formatter called Universal Indent GUI.

Also, there are two .bat files (for x86 and x64) in the application folder which can be run to add Notepadd++ to the right-click menu of all files in Windows Explorer. I didn’t make this by default because the shell extension changes the rendering of the menu in Windows 7. Try it to see what I mean.
