Finally, after months of promises Nvidia released a new set of drivers that enables PhysX on G80 (the first 8800 series) video cards. This new drivers supports all cards from 8800 series to the latest GTX280.

This release, Nvidia ForceWare Drivers 177.83 WHQL, comes with a new version of PhysX System Software. For starters, you can download some demos, an Unreal 3 patch that enables PhysX and a free game that supports it, Warmonger.

In the download page, there is a video encoder, which i think supports CUDA for using the GPU to encode video.

Oddly, the downloads are provided via Java, so it sucks but at least the speeds are great.

Note: If you experience longs waits or the installation fails, extract the contents of the installer to a folder and move the PhysX setup to another location. Then, run it after ForceWare successfully installs.

If you ever get any problems when updating drivers you can use Driver Sweeper after you have uninstalled you current drivers to clean your system for left over files. After that, reboot your computer and install the new ones. This will reduce the chance of having driver issues.

This nice registry defragmentation program has been updated. I’m glad that with every new version, the authors add or improve features.

Realtek HD Audio Drivers 2.01 were uploaded to Realtek’s FTP server last night.

The Readme file says that customizations were made (just as with every new version) and other minor changes.

FileZilla 3.1.1.1 contains a large number of bug fixes and improvements.

Since the last security flaw, the authors worked hard to fix it and added more robustness to this already great FTP client.

Pismo File Mount Audit Package Build 046 was released and it now supports DAA and UIF disc image files.

This is an excellent file mounting and virtual folder application that is very useful.

LameXP is a free audio converter which uses the famous LAME MP3 Encoder.

Supports multi-threading encoding, which means that it can convert two files at once, saving you some time if you have a CPU with 2 or more cores.

For MP4/AAC encoding support you need to download the free Nero Digital Audio Encoder. Just download it and copy the EXE files to LameXP folder.

LameXP 3.02 has the following changes:

• Added an option to disable all sounds in LameXP
• Added warning message for bitrates that violate the current bitrate restriction
• Fixed bitrate restrictions for LAME encoder (strictly enforce bitrate restrictions using “-F” parameter)
• Fixed file associations code (set file associations only for the current user)
• Updated load/save configuration code (store settings in an INI file instead of the registry)

My favorite application for cleaning temporary files was updated some days ago.

CCleaner 2.10.618 has now support for Vista dialogs, now it works well with Windows Search 4.0 and more.
