I downloaded the iTunes Switchless 9.0.2.25.exe but when I run it (in Vista), I get this error message:

“Non 7-zip archive”

Which is weird because I’ve used your previous itunes installers with no problem at all. Any idea what might have happened?

It seems that the downloaded file somehow got corrupted.
Try downloading it again.

With your latest updates (12’03’09) I cannot find Regshot 32bit.
Are you only using 64bit?

Separately, I value your opinion – why do you use XnView as apposed to IrfanView, The Gimp, PhotoPlus SE, FastStone, PhotoScape, Pictomio, and least I forget, Google Picasa.

I didn’t make the links clear. The 32-bit version is in the link that says Download and 64-bit in the one that says x64. I will change it later in the day.

About those applications you asked, I prefer XnView for its customizability and I find its interface better than FastStone Image Viewer or IrfanView.

For editing images, my favorite freeware (by a long shot) is Paint.NET. I hate The GIMP interface and the other ones (including XnView) just offer simple tools.

Also, I like Windows Live Photo Gallery a lot. If you want to mantain a large image database, WLPG is great. Sadly, its image viewer (lacks mouse wheel scroll for images, as it controls image zoom.

I know that the server they are now is not fast, but at least they are direct downloads. Probably I will make that a mirror and use my own web hosting, but I need to see if that won’t cost me because of the traffic amount.

the software “EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter 4.1 for Windows [English]” requires iTunes, I have installed “iTunes Switchless 9.0.2.25.exe” but the program doesn’t detect it and doesn’t start.
Can you fix it, please?

There shouldn´t be s problem. However, that program might be looking if the itunes helper process is running or the ipod service has been started. Try running iTunes and leave it open to see if your application can detect it.

iTunes is opened, ipod service is started, but the program still say “This program requires that you have Apples’s iTunes software installed on your machine. iTunes is free software which is available for download on the Internet. Would you like to download and install iTunes now?”

You can try and ask the developer of that application what exactly they look for to see if iTunes is installed or not because the only main component missing is QuickTime (I assume you have QuickTime Alternative) and the Mobile Device Support.

I will verify it, but the most common cause for that error is a corrupted file when downloading. Try again without a download manager (If you were using any).

iTunes 9 x64 doesn’t seem to work, always says it can’t save after waiting 10 min to download. I’ve tried downloading multiple times. It’s also painstakingly slow.

Hi omoekun. I’m hesitant to update my installer for Orbit Downloader because the problem with the columns not being remembered is worse in version 3.0.0.0 and 3.0.0.1. I will keep trying every new version and as soon as the developers fix it, I will make a new installer.

I do the same as you do. But this beta is supposed to introduce Windows 7 support and I’d like to see that in action but I don’t have time to create my own lite Skype version (I have to reinstall InstallShield and stuff). So it’d be awesome if you could create a Skype Beta installer.

It has been working for me in several Win7 installations. Both x86 and x64.
But I can try it the latest beta and maybe make a new installer for it, leaving the last stable online as well.

Any change of saying what is different about these installers somewhere?

As I wrote at the end of this page, these are customized installers for using in unattended installations and in normal Windows installations.

Many applications here don’t come with an installer, so I made one for them. In other cases, the installers were troublesome in unattended scenarios and modifications needed to be made.

Listing every change for each application would be a lot of work, and I don’t have the time to do that. But you can visit the links provided to find more about them and what they do.

Does smplayer require mplayer to be installed?

SMplayer is 8megs
Mplayer Full is 26 megs.
Is smplayer a watered down player?

Hi. It’s a front-end for Mplayer, but I don’t know if it implements all its features.
There is no need to install Mplayer separately.

I install it as a backup player in my installation and so far it plays everything, including AVC (H.264) content without problems.

I’m considering Media Player Classic HomeCinema as a replacement (backup) for SMPlayer but there is no harm in installing both until I decide.
