BurnAware is a program for burning files to CD/DVD.

It can burn DVD Video discs and Audio CD’s as well. Supports multi-session and can save (not from discs in the freeware edition) and write ISO images.

There is a Home Edition available which has more features but is a bit expensive is you ask me.

doPDF is a great freeware utility that install itself as a printer. This way, you can create PDF files from virtually any application that has printing capabilities.

Official Description:

Installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so after a successful installation will appear in your Printers and Faxes list. To convert to PDF, you just have to print the document to the doPDF free pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF. It will ask you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer.

ImgBurn is a lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application.

It has several “Modes”, each one for performing a different task:

* Read - Read a disc to an image file.
* Build - Create an image file from files on your computer or network - or you can write the files directly to a disc.
* Write - Write an image file to a disc.
* Verify - Check a disc is 100% readable. Optionally, you can also have ImgBurn compare it against a given image file to ensure the actual data is correct.

It is easy to use and i haven’t had any problem when burning with it.

HD Tune is a freeware utility designed to benchmark the speed of hard disk drives.

It can show the current temperature of each drive as well as S.M.A.R.T.

You can use it to evaluate the speed of your hard disks. I use it to test the impact of antivirus and some antispyware software to see which one has more impact on performance in my systems. Also i test sometimes the speed of RAID arrays.

Say no to Apple’s invasive and bloated player.

There is another package called QT Lite. The only difference is that QT Lite doesn’t include Media Player Classic, a great multimedia player. I recommended it as a video player. Its light and has tons of features.
