VistaTweaker Replacement Is The Works
The replacement for VistaTweaker is in the works.
It will have support for Windows 7 and Windows Vista tweaks. The planned release is in about two weeks at the most. If i can get it to run properly on many systems, it won’t have the Beta in it’s name on the day of release.
I’m also exploring Windows 7 for tweaks. If any of you have some Windows 7-only tweaks and want them to be implemented, feel free to send them to me. I will review them and if I have enough time, they will make it to the first release of my new app.
Please post any suggestions you may have.
PS: I didn’t mention any name, right? That’s because it’s also in the works.
Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2
Microsoft has just released Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
There is a large list that describes all the changes/fixes that were included on the service pack. You can read it here.
If you need to deploy it in your installations, you can use the Updates folder provided by Microsoft in the Office installation source. Just run the Service Pack 2 file with the /extract parameter and copy all the MSP files to the Updates folder.

When you install Office, this patches are automatically applied, so there is no need to install them separately.
Just remember to choose the appropriate language for your installation before downloading because this Service Pack is not language neutral.
Don’t Change Your Email for Windows Live Messenger
If you receive a message from Windows Live Messenger Service saying that you need to change your email address in order to continue to be able to sign in, just ignore it.
This message was sent by mistake, according to an statement made by the Windows Live Team.
Introducing Windows 7
In a few weeks we are going to be talking about the details of this release at the PDC and at WinHEC. We will be sharing a pre-beta “developer only release” with attendees of both shows and giving them the first broad in-depth look at what we’ve been up to. I can’t wait for them to see it.
And, as you probably know, since we began development of the next version of the Windows client operating system we have been referring to it by a codename, “Windows 7.” But now is a good time to announce that we’ve decided to officially call the next version of Windows, “Windows 7.”
Simply put, this is the seventh release of Windows, so therefore “Windows 7″ just makes sense.
Google Opens Knol Website, a Wiki with Bylines
Google opened its website Knol to the public on Wednesday, allowing people to write about their areas of expertise under their bylines in a twist on encyclopedia Wikipedia, which allows anonymity. “We are deeply convinced that authorship — knowing who wrote what — helps readers trust the content,” said Cedric DuPont, product manager for Knol.
The name of the service is a play on an individual unit of knowledge, DuPont said, and entries on the public website, knol.google.com, are called “knols”.
Google conducted a limited test of the site beginning in December. Knol has publishing tools similar to single blog pages. But unlike blogs, Knol encourages writers to reduce what they know about a topic to a single page that is not chronologically updated.

Windows 7 Multi-touch Demo
Microsoft has published a demo of the Multi-touch feature of Windows 7.
It looks great but i think that it will be best suited for kiosks or PDA’s. I can’t imagine myself or other home users using this everyday.
However, it is interesting because this can be added to new Windows Mobile releases or products such as Tablet PC’s or cellphones.

ServiceTweaker 1.0 Is Out
I just finished uploading ServiceTweaker to my server. This is a program to manage Windows services.
It can change the startup type of each service and it can also start or stop them.
I hope you find it useful, and as always, i will appreciate any feedback or comments about it.
Remember that you can use the contact form in the About page of this site to send me information about errors or bugs, or anything that you like to add.
The program page has been published and the download links updated.
