My last posts were almost all about Nvidia and its drivers or nTune. Happens that i own one 8800 GTS 320 mb video card and i’m testing the latest beta drivers. I downloaded the Crysis demo and was playing with it and the new drivers, but i was let down by the performance of this demo that i tried to tweak my drivers but couldn’t get a perceivable boost.

I expect a few more beta releases from Nvidia to address performance issues with this game in particular.

This happens when game developers and hardware vendors try to push the marketing too much. I mean, if a game is graphically awesome, why not make it and optimize it to run on the latest high-end hardware? The current trend is to make games with almost realistic graphics and incredible effects but you need the best gaming machine in order to take advantage of the latest developments. And even if you got one of this systems, you can’t run it in all it’s glory and high resolutions because you need yet-to-be-released hardware. I remember than a few years ago, the best-looking games could be played with the latest hardware available and there wasn’t a need for a new systems or a new video card in order to play them.
