    I’m sorry, Rianna, you are the one that has reported problems. Maybe you should make a clean install and see if it solves your problem.

    Regards and good luck with that.

    MJ, the installers are working fine, except for Rianna.

    No need to ask for a “serious reply”, though. Regards.

    There is a problem with the install. right after the window “Please wait after windows configures iTunes…” completes, an iTuneshelper window popups with the error that Apple Application Support was not found. While that window is open, AAS begins to install. Once that is complete, I try to open iTunes. And, I get AAS was not found error.

    have you tried removing everything and installing itunes again?

  10. November 4th, 2009 at 17:35 | #10

    capitalcg,
    As mikhail wrote, try uninstalling eveything from Apple and then run my installer. You shouldn’t have any problem.

    If that doesn’t work, after uninstalling everything Apple, run the Microsoft MSI cleanup tool (google it) and remove any entries that refer to Apple or iTunes.

    Then, run my installer again.

    Regards to you and Mikhail for his posts here…

    This is to confirm I was able to install this on Win7 Home Premium 64-bit fresh install with no issues. Just ensure you install QuickTime Alternative 3.0.1 beforehand. Great job, Ajua!

    “*****\iTunes x64 Switchless 9.0.2.25.exe could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.”

    :( What did I mess up?

    It worked! Yay! I’m a happy girl now, haha.

    Kanten:

    Are you running it locally (from a location on your computer) or remotely (Open from browser)?

    I haven’t seen that error before. If you are trying to run it directly from your browser, save it to a location in your computer first.

    Rianna:

    I’m glad you finally got it working. I don’t know what was going on with your problem, though.

    Regards.

    I would like to extract the iTunes.msi from your installer. However 7zip tells me that it is not recognized as an archive. I’ve read at MSFN that extracting the msi is possible. Please help!

  16. November 7th, 2009 at 07:47 | #16

    That’s weird. Extracting it with 7-Zip should work.

    I just test it with version 4.65 and it opens and extracts fine.

    Hi – clean install of Win7 x64. I just installed (in order):

    1) Quicktime Alternative 3.0.1
    2) iTunes switchless 9.0.2.25 x64

    Everything installed fine and iTunes loads without a problem. But when I hook up my iPhone I get a message that “The iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes.”

    I’ve verified that I downloaded the x64 version of iTunes. Any idea what the problem might be?

    Thanks

    Hi bgt,

    I forgot to include a link to my main article about iTunes without QuickTime, where I tell people with iPhone or iTouch that they need to install Mobile Device Support from the original iTunes installer by just extracting the MSI with 7-Zip or WinRAR.

    Read the article here.

    Regards.

    I think that there is a known common problem with iPod Nano 5th Gen. users. Your iTunes switchless version don’t work, let me explain me:

    I made a fresh install on a Win XP SP2, first I used QT Lite 3.01, and then iTunes 9.0.25 (switchless). The iPod was not recognized. I tried to install every common parts (step by step, one after other) of an official iTunes, and the problem was that your switchless version doesn’t have an essential component: the Apple Mobile Device Support. If the AMDS is missing, the communication between PC and iPod (I tried on a Nano 5th Gen.) it’s impossible.

    The Apple Mobile Device Support has embedded and necessary drivers for this new Nano version. It’s essential. Hope your new iTunes 9.0.3 version could arrange this fix.

    Thanks anyway, and good work.

    @ajua
    Thanks for the upcoming update on iTunes Switchless! Can’t wait to use it. By the way, iPhone OS 3.1.3 is out for all iPhone and iPod Touch!

    @ja10239
    I didn’t know that Nano 5G required it. For previous generations is not needed, I have tried others and I own a Nano 3G. I don’t put it into the installer to keep the download size to a minimum (if that’s possible) and many of us also don’t need it at all.

    Please extract Mobile Device Support from the original iTunes installer (open it with WinRAR or 7-Zip) and install it after QuickTime Alternative and my custom installers.

    Regards.
    @ZeTaBYTeS
    The new installer is ready for download. Regards.
