I was checking some FTP sites i had stored in my FTP client when i came across a new release of Firefox 2.x.

This new Firefox 2.0.0.16 release is not published on Mozilla’s site yet but everyone can download it via FTP.

There is no changelog, but i guess that it includes some fixes for security vulnerabilities and nothing more.

Shark007 updated its Adobe Reader Lite versions. The only change was to remove AcroRd32Info.exe, which were running in memory all the time when you closed Adobe Reader.

This Lite versions leaves out many plugins and has customized preferences so it opens faster and has just the features than the average users needs. Also, the file size is a lot smaller.

Vista Codec Package installs everything you need in order to play all audio and video formats.

It doesn’t come with a media player, so you can use Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center or whatever you like. All codecs are set to default settings.

You can install it on Windows XP.

This excellent freeware program for recovering deleted files is now out of Beta stage.

The developer includes the Yahoo! toolbar in the installer but you can uninstall it later. A trick is to install it and grab the files copied to the installed folder. The are no external dependencies and only the settings are stored in the registry.

This way you can have the program without the toolbar and without any installer at all for any future use. I make my own custom MSI installer using the installed files. I can’t share it. I would violate the license agreement by doing so.

Recuva 1.16.333 is the final version. Latest changes:

• Added ability to search for non-deleted files (for recovery from damaged or reformatted disks only).
• Added support for .rtf, .pdf, .mp3 and .tif files to deep scan.
• Fixed bug that would limit file size of .avi files to 1GB after deep scan.
• Various UI tweaks.
• Performance improvements.

The difference between this release on the original ZIP format download and this one is that the original is portable but makes use of some configuration files in the user’s application data. If you take it to another computer, the configurations you have made won’t be available on this other computer.

FileZilla Portable is 100% portable, so all your preferences will be saved within the program’s folder, regardless of what computer you run it in.

Another update for Realtek HD Audio Drivers. Version 1.98 was released today.

According to the release notes, there are two changes:

• Customizations.
• Fix the potential risk that audio driver can’t be installed completely under Vista.

If you ever get any problems when updating drivers you can use Driver Sweeper after you have uninstalled you current drivers to clean your system for left over files. After that, reboot your computer and install the new ones. This will reduce the chance of having driver issues.
