I have been busy the last few weeks. Among other things, i began to make my first test programs in the new Visual Studio 2008 Professional.

I will try to release a new version of VistaTweaker using XAML the first couple of weeks of january. This way i can take some approaches to multilanguage interface so everyone can use it in their own language.

I’m going out on for the holidays, but i wil keep the site updated.

It seems that Nvidia is releasing new drivers too often.
This time, version 169.25 Beta are the latest available.

Changes are mostly related to SLI.

Just today Nvidia has released a WHQL Candidate driver, which is almost a final version for WHQL instead of a plain beta. According the Nvidia, there are numerous fixes and changes, but mainly concerning SLI and Windows Vista x64 issues.

Today, Microsoft released the first Service Pack 1 for Office 2007. It features improved performace and fixes various security vulnerabilities, among other things.

If you need to deploy it in your installations, you can use the Updates folder provided by Microsoft in the office installation source. Just run the Service Pack 1 file with /extract parameter and copy all the MSP files to Updates folder.

When you install Office, this patches are automatically applied, so there is no need to install them separately.

Remember to choose the appropriate language for your installation because this Service Pack is not language neutral.

First, we need to create two BMP files in 800×600 and 1024×769 resolutions using 24-bit images. To accomplish this, use any image editor you like. To generate the boot file, i will use Vista Boot Logo Generator 1.2 Beta.

When you have your two image files, open Vista Boot Logo Generator and load the images. Then, choose File - Save Boot Screen File As and save the winload.exe.mui file the program generates.

You need to copy this file to Windows\System32\en-US. Remember to make a backup of this file and take into account that the en-US part can be different in other languages (it’s es-ES for spanish installations).

One last thing. Type msconfig in the Run box and choose the Boot tab. Just clear the checkbox called No GUI Boot.

That’s all. In order for Windows to use the 1024×768 image you need to have a decent graphics card.
